Profile

Researcher, educator,
system builder.

I am a PhD scholar at University College Dublin, researching the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), AI, and healthcare. My work focuses on making well-being explainable and teachable, ensuring AI systems support human flourishing in high-stakes contexts.

With a background spanning language education and digital health, I translate conceptual frameworks into implementable AI-supported systems. I have contributed to multi-national projects on Long-COVID and cardiovascular risk management with the Irish Heart Foundation and European partners.

Research Programme

What I'm building.

"My work focuses on addressing the gap between human decision-making capacity and AI-mediated environments by designing systems that preserve agency, clarity, and effective action."

System Overview

Input

Behavioural, contextual, and longitudinal well-being data from social microcosms.

Process

Modelling well-being as a functional capacity via the Spectrum of Contextual Well-being (SCW).

Output

Adaptive feedback mechanisms and agency-preserving intervention strategies.

Spectrum of Contextual Well-being

A functional framework mapping perception and judgment across complex AI environments.

ContextWell Lab

An early-stage research lab and intervention system born from my PhD. It serves as an incubator to translate theoretical well-being frameworks into scalable AI applications and concrete clinical outcomes.

AI Governance & Agency

Reframing human oversight as a dimension of well-being efficacy rather than just compliance.

Driving Impact.

Founder & Organization Leader

Founded and led the ISLA Society, managing a strategic team to secure university-level funding and develop initiatives supporting international scholars. Led cross-functional teams in digital strategy prior to academia.

Institutional Governance

Elected Governor at the University of Galway Governing Authority, advocating for EDI policies and postgraduate strategies at the highest institutional level. Quality Assurance Reviewer for QQI.

Academic Service & Peer Review

Program Committee Member for AAAI (2026); Peer Reviewer for BMC Medical Ethics. Active contributor to international networks including IASEAI and European COST Actions (BEACON).
